ICCAN Commissioner Howard Simmons has experience of the public, private and voluntary sectors and has worked within Local, Regional and Central Government. Starting initially in Planning and Regeneration Howard is familiar with the challenges of developing a Green agenda and the current ambition to build back better. Having held Chief Officer roles in several Local Authorities Howard has led on Environmental, Transport Planning and Noise Strategies and as Deputy Chief Executive of a London Borough has been concerned with the noise and health dimensions of airport expansion alongside its economic importance. Howard was a Policy Adviser to the Local Government Association for 12 years, worked at a senior level at the Audit Commission assessing organisational effectiveness and performance and has contributed to Cabinet Office Policy Action teams as well as Chairing the national Community Development Policy Group and Four Nations Play Policy Forum.
